Clinton County Victim Witness Assistance
The Clinton County Victim-Witness Assistance Service acts as a liaison between crime victims and witnesses, and the criminal justice system. If you have been subpoenaed, call the Witness Hotline, at 989-224-5279, to confirm if you need to appear for court. Our Family Advocates will work with you and the Victim Witness Team at Court to help you along the way.
Crime Victim Compensation
If you or someone you know is a victim of crime, certain expenses may qualify for Crime Victim Compensation coverage. This program may help pay out-of-pocket medical expenses, lost earnings, funeral bills, counseling, or other expenses for people who have been harmed as the direct result of a crime. When sexual abuse is documented with photos and videos and shared with others, the cycle of harm continues. This content is known as Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). Because of the internet the spread of CSAM is much larger in scale than ever. Abusers can use images of someone as a way to coerce, threaten, or blackmail victims, and abusers may use online tools to create “deepfakes” of victims using their likeliness on nude bodies generated with AI.
